New Release: Understanding Yourself and Others™ Exploring Essential Motivators available. Booklet. 48 pages.
In 2014, we decided to shift from using 'temperament' as the name of the lens to having it be Essential Motivators. Includes updated content to eliminate bias in some of the descriptions. We made some changes to the snapshots, the targets and the targets glossary and a few other changes.
Now you can have the support materials using Essential Motivators instead of having to use Temperament along with Essential Motivators as a term.
Also, with current printing technology, we can make the Targets on pages 24 and 25 in four colors. People who use a colors model will be able to provide this resource and have it match what they are using.
We are so pleased to have received the following endorsements:
I've used Linda Berens' Understanding Yourself and Others, An Introduction to the 4 Temperaments for over 20 years. Temperament changed my life and the lives of so many of my clients. I am so excited about the change in title to Essential Motivators plus the other refinements. The newest changes make Essential Motivators an absolute must learn framework!

Essential Motivators has elbowed out many other models to join the short list of my go-to models for regular use with clients. It's especially helpful for those who want a simple yet robust way to understand some of their own core needs and work more effectively with others whose core needs are different from their own.

The models and approach in this book totally transformed the way I understood and used type - and it’s so much richer and more effective now.

Understanding our Essential Motivators gives us fabulous insights into our inner drives—and when we understand ourselves better, we have the opportunity to understand others better. This new edition builds on a solid foundation of the temperament theory and goes beyond with updates that address negative stereotypes and put the spotlight on the contributions that we make when we accept and honor the talents that comprise our Essential Motivator patterns.
Evelyn Lemoine, Consultant, President-Elect, Association for Psychological Type International
Understanding Yourself and Others, Exploring Essential Motivators is an outstanding update to an already great book. Linda’s work is exceedingly practical. I have been benefiting from her models for over a decade. I love the refreshed descriptions laying out four essential patterns motivating human behavior. This revised edition feels fresh and even more committed to eliminating language biases wherever possible. No matter if you are new to Linda’s work or an old pro, I highly recommend the revised edition.

This book is dense with insight and information. It is the perfect accompaniment for workshop participants, while working equally well for one-on-one coaching sessions. It is a lasting resource and your clients will thank you for it!
